PAL- Putting Kids First

The Police Athletic League of Manatee County will hold their seventh annual golf classic and bass fishing tournament event on the 8th of May at Ritz-Carlton Member’s Golf Club.  Manatee PAL is a 501 C-3 non-profit organization that is dependent on grant funding and donations from the community to fund our children’s athletic programs.

We provide a safe place where athletics and academic reinforcement instill pride, responsibility, self-confidence, teamwork, and respect in the youth it serves. We strive to be the most affordable and outstanding sports program in Manatee County.

What’s unique about Manatee PAL is that it provides an opportunity for local kids to come together with diverse interests.  Our programs seek to develop mind and body through academics and sports training.  Our programs include:
•    Football (July - November) with on-site training camps year-round run by former NFL alumni
•    Basketball year round (Teams Play November-March, AAU Travel Ball March-July, Open Gym August-October)
•    Cheerleading (July - November)
•    Boxing (year-round)
•    Inline Hockey (year-round)

Manatee PAL 7th Annual Golf Classic

Many youth in Manatee County live in neighborhoods threatened by gangs, drugs, violence, and poverty. The Manatee Sheriff's Office reports that the most prevalent youth crimes are assault, burglary, and vandalism. Studies show that youth engaged with law enforcement officers and other adult mentors are less likely to become involved in these types of crimes.

With over 200 volunteer mentors in the program, PAL provides many opportunities for youth to learn and grow, and even have an opportunity to earn a college scholarship that can be the roadmap out of circumstances that prohibit success.  Our staff and volunteers have a chance to interact with the community and to exercise our mission; to bring law enforcement, kids and families together in a positive, safe environment through sports and academics to build a strong community.
