UnderDog Rescue Hosts Adoption Event at Motorworks

UnderDog Rescue Hosts Adoption Event at Motorworks

At a recent fundraiser held at Motorworks during “Yappy Hour” on Sunday, Sept. 18, a huge crowd filled the bar and huddled under tents in the beer garden. The dedication of the dog lovers, attendees and UnderDog Rescue staff was amazing as it was pouring down rain but they scurried around holding dogs, popping tents to get rid of excess water, and selling a variety of goods and raffle tickets.

UnderDog Rescue of Florida is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization is an all volunteer rescue that has 100% of their adoptable dogs and cats in foster homes.

According to Shona Samuel Otto, the event, despite the fact it was raining cats and dogs,  was a success as Motorworks was packed with dog lovers and owners with their fur families. The proceeds raised go towards food and vet bills for the pups in foster homes from Naples to Tampa.

There are more than 1,300 pets up for adoption including cats and dogs in the Sarasota/Bradenton area alone

There are more than 1,300 pets up for adoption including cats and dogs in the Sarasota/Bradenton area alone. From the tiniest Chihuahuas to the larger breeds including German Shepherds and Chow mixes, the fluffiest felines to the Tigger tabby, you’re certain to find your forever feline or canine friend by adopting from UnderDog Rescue.

Two dogs waiting for a forever home pictured here at the event was a sweet, small female Chihuahua and an adorable black Lhasa Apso named Minky held by volunteers. The dogs were all well-behaved and tolerant of the commotion. I imagine since they’ve all been fostered, they’ve developed good habits as a result of their loving foster parents.

If you’re seeking an opportunity to be of service, you can volunteer with the rescue or why not foster an animal? Learn more about volunteering, fostering or adopting at underdogadopt.com or call 941-746-WOOF (9663).

If you haven’t been to Motorworks, you need to get with the program! Bring your pet, play some corn hole or bocce ball, and enjoy freshly brewed craft beer. Food trucks and free popcorn are available if you’re hungry.

Live music is featured Tuesdays through Sundays either in the outdoor beer garden or inside in the tasting room/bar. It’s really a nice atmosphere both indoors and out. For more information on live music or events at Motorworks, visit www.motorworksbrewing.com.
