Join The Sarasota Film Festival For This Outdoor Screening Of Race

"Race" is based on the incredible true story of Jesse Owens, the athletic superstar whose quest to become the greatest track and field athlete in history thrusts him onto the 1936 Olympics, where he faces off against Adolf Hitler's vision of Aryan supremacy.

"Race" is a film about courage, determination and friendship, and an inspiring drama about one man's fight to become an Olympic legend.

Today, as injustice and inequality persist, independent filmmakers continue to ensure that the stories of all people are seen and heard. Film is a prominent cultural laboratory, and disseminator of ideas in our society. Similarly, college campuses have historically been centers for social change and discourse.

The theme of the 2017 Sarasota Film Festival is “See and Be Seen” and this year we are proud to partner with our area’s academic institutions to present a new program entitled ‘woke!’ Here, SFF will screen topical films that aim to inspire and encourage students to intellectually awaken, ask questions, and engage in new discourses about the world they will one day lead.

This screening at SCF is co-Sponsored by:
SCF African-American Student Union
SCF Film Club
SCF SGA (Student Government Association)
